6 Rms Riv Vu (Six Rooms, River View) is a romantic comedy by Bob Randall about two married strangers, Anne Miller and Paul Friedman, who meet while viewing a vacant apartment on Manhattan's Riverside Drive and get accidentally locked in, leading them to discover a mutual attraction as they spend a night together, exploring what might have been before ultimately returning to their spouses. The title is a classified ad shorthand for the apartment's features, and the play, also a popular 1974 TV movie with Carol Burnett and Alan Alda, captures their witty, flirtatious banter and eventual realization that their real lives are more practical than the fantasy.
SIDES AND CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS FOR AUDITIONS

Character Descriptions

Paul Friedman: A married advertising copywriter described as a "hopelessly faithless swain" who toys with dreams of adultery while remaining largely inexperienced. He possesses a "strangled grace" and a restless energy, feeling trapped by the inertia of his daily life.

Anne Miller: A discontented, stay-at-home mother and housewife who is described as sensitive, vulnerable, and "tremulously on the brink of adultery". She struggles with a sense of unfulfillment and a desire for more than her routine domestic life.

Richard Miller: Anne’s husband, characterized as a "tightly-wound," button-down architect. He is described by Anne as "uptight" and stiff, with a personality that people often "trip over".
Janet Friedman: Paul’s wife, a "brassily elegant" woman often depicted as a "women's-libbing Jewish-American Princess". She is characterized as being more assertive and modern than her husband.
The Superintendent (Eddie): A "burly, crusty," or bored building employee who manages the apartment.
The Woman in 4-A: An "eccentric lady" and neighbor who lives in the building.
Expectant Couple (The Pregnant Woman & Expectant Father): A nervous couple who are also viewing the apartment.
The Southern Neighbor: A "sassy" resident of the building who provides additional local character.
