DENNIS O'DONOVAN

President/Artistic Director

Dennis has been a theatre lover since his pre-teen days, staging plays in his basement with and for family members. Leading an organization like A.C.T. represents the realization of a life-long dream.

Dennis studied acting at NYC's HB Studio. When living on Long Island he served as Producer for The Suburban Players and was the founder of The Suburban Junior Players.  Dennis also toured for several seasons with Plaza Theatrical Productions.

Dennis' pride in the accomplishments of A.C.T.'s performers, crews and staff is boundless!

KAREN O'DONOVAN

Secretary/Treasurer

Karen is the face of A.C.T.!  Everyone who enters our doors is met by Karen's always-smiling face and warm, personal touch!

With a background in corporate personnel management, office administration and residential real estate, her earlier days in Manhattan were always surrounded by nights and weekends working behind the scenes in community theatre with stage management and show production.

NANCY TURRELL

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Theatre Director

Nancy K. Turrell has served as executive director for the Arts Council of Martin County since 1999 and also serves as the CEO of the Arts Foundation for Martin County. In that role has overseen a wide variety of projects that benefit the arts community, including creating a women’s giving circle for the arts, launching an innovative ecoart apprenticeship program, and implementing economic impact studies.  Turrell was an appointed member of the Florida Council on Arts and Culture from 2018-2020.  Turrell holds a M.A. from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in Philanthropy & Development and a B.S. from New York University in Marketing.

ED WILHELMS

A.C.T. Founder

Ed started working in theatre as an actor. He received his actor training in contemporary and classical acting at the American Theatre Wing in New York City, and was also one of only six actors accepted by the Theatre Wing to study and work at the Raymond Moore Professional Training Center located on the grounds of the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, Massachusetts. 

Ed has appeared Off Broadway, in summer stock and local theatres in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. He has been featured in national television commercials for Zoo Ball and Devil Sticks and was Milt in Luv on Boston Public Television, was an original member and contributing writer for The Free Range Comix, a touring sketch comedy show, was co-founder of The Actors Company, a Shakespeare training and performance company in Barnstable, Massachusetts, was the founder of the A.C.T. Studio Theatre in Stuart, Florida and founder of Drama Works Theatre Company in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.  Ed’s directing credits include Crimes of The Heart by Beth Henley, Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay Abaire, Picnic by William Inge, All My Sons by Arthur Miller, Speed-The-Plow by David Mamet, The Exercise by Louis John Carlino, Slowgirl by Greg Pierce, Biloxi Blues by Neil Simon, Eat Your Heart Out by Nick Hall, Walter Cronkite is Dead by Joe Calarco, Nebuchadnezzar by Don Nigro, Twilight of the Golds by Jonathan Tolins The Guys by Anne Nelson and Agnes of God by John Pielmeier. 


Ed has conducted acting classes and workshops at his former studio in OldSaybrook, Connecticut, for the Margreta Stage Company in Essex, Connecticut and at the A.C.T. Studio Theatre and at the Drama Works Theatre Company.   

Andy Morejon

ANDY MOREJON

DIRECTOR OF DIGITAL MARKETING  & PUBLICITY

As a Cuban-American and native Floridian, Andy has always been a part of our Treasure Coast community! Not only a family member to our theatre for several years, but a man of many hats. Andy has previously written, published, choreographed and directed his own drama works for local High Schools in Saint Lucie County which have been aired on our Public Educational Televised Network.


Andy has most recently worked in choreography and scenic design for our 2019 production of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown and 2020 production of Cabaret. Morejon is currently the Director of Digital Marketing and a Brand Ambassador here at ACT Studio Theatre. You can still find Andy either behind the scenes expanding creativity or onstage performing for professional theatre companies stretching across South Florida. Previous shows and credits include Cabaret (Emcee & Choreographer), Young Frankenstein (Igor), Rocky Horror (Eddie/Choreographer), You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Snoopy/Choreographer/Asst. Director), and many more such as Jesus Christ Superstar (Dance Captain), The Addams Family (Dance Captain), Man Of La Mancha, Monty Python's Spamalot, Sweet Charity (Dance Captain), Saturday Night Fever, Flashdance, etc.

STUART MOHR

THEATRE STAFF
Show Director

Stuart hails from Columbus, OH and majored in Musical Theatre at The Ohio State University.  In addition to directing numerous productions, he is one of the founding members of the ACT acting company and has appeared many times on our stage.  Stuart always seeks out challenging and thought provoking material to share with our audience.

RICHIE LESTER

Richie Lester is an actor, director, and playwright who has performed at various venues throughout South Florida. He has been a frequent collaborator at A.C.T. as a director and actor, and appreciates the talent, hard work, and community spirit of all the volunteers who make A.C.T. such a special place to call home.

HEIDI CONDON

THEATRE STAFF
Show Director

Heidi has been involved with theatre and music from the ripe old age of eight. Since moving from New England in 2004, she has written, produced, directed, and performed in various shows throughout Florida. Most notably, she was the Assistant Entertainment Director and actor at the Florida Renaissance Festival for fourteen years.


She has directed several shows at ACT and introduced their first musical, The Fantasticks, in 2018. Since then she has directed You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown in 2019 and 2020’s sold out performances of Cabaret. She works with the Martin County Arts Council, writing, producing, and directing, The Marties, recognizing outstanding artists from the Treasure Coast area. Theatre is a passion for Heidi and ACT has a devoted supporter for continuing their fine work.

DONNA AMARU

THEATRE STAFF
Show Director

Donna has been acting and directing in various theatres on the Treasure Coast since 2007.  Among her favorite roles are: Faye in The Amorous Ambassador, Edna Edison in Prisoner of Second Avenue and Karen in Plaza Suite.  

She has also enjoyed celebrating International Women’s Month at A.C.T., where current events and universal truths are acknowledged and brought to the fore, by directing The Smell of the Kill (2019) and Steel Magnolias (2020).

As a member of the A.C.T. Team, Donna looks forward to directing more shows that are engaging, thought-provoking, timely and entertaining to our audiences.

STEPHEN MAYER

Show Director

As a University of Florida grad and native of the Treasure Coast, Stephen truly loves and the Treasure Coast Community home. Over the span of three years, Stephen Mayer has treasured learning the craft of acting and stage managing at A.C.T. Studio Theatre. As a student honed on this very stage, he has appeared in several plays as actor and stage manager, and now looks forward to continuing to grow with our amazing group of talented and dedicated artists. He is inspired to focus on story telling as Show Director and is so honored to be a part of the A.C.T team.

KATHY CORLISS

THEATRE STAFF
Tech Team Lead

Kathy Corliss is a retired middle school teacher, certified hypnotist, and casual artist. She fell in love A.C.T. after attending a performance in 2017. She began assisting with sets and ushering, then progressed to stage crew, make up, costume creation and Stage Manager.

SARA CIRONE

Tech Team Lead

Sara Cirone is a small business owner by day and an avid theatre assistant by night. She has a profound fondness of anything tech related. She stumbled upon A.C.T. Studio Theatre a couple years ago while her two teenage daughters were working towards volunteer hours in the community and fell in love with the whole theatre process and the Instant family that came along with it. To Sara, the theatre is now her home away from home.
